Employment to over 1,000 persons and indirect employment to over 5,000 persons
Government of Himachal Pradesh and Jaiprakash Industries Associates Limited signed MOU for setting up of a 2 Million tonne capacity per annum cement plant based on Baroh-Sindh Limestone deposits in Churah Tehsil of district Chamba, today. Prem Kumar, Principal Secretary Industries, signed the MOU on behalf of the Government of Himachal Pradesh while Manoj Gaur, Executive Chairman was the authorized signatory of Jaiprakash Associates Limited.
Himachal CM congratulated the Jaiprakash Associates for becoming partner in the progress of the state which had the best investment friendly environment besides other incentives to prospective entrepreneurs. He said that the proposed plant would be of about Rs. 800 crore and provide direct employment to over 1,000 persons and indirect employment to over 5,000 persons. He said that the new Industrial Policy of the State would be applicable to the cement plants being set up in the state and seventy percent employment at all level to local people made mandatory. He said that the company shall arrange for employment to one member of each of the displaced families as per their qualification during the construction period immediately and subsequently on regular basis when the unit would commence production. He said that the company would be required to associate the Industries Department of the state while carrying the recruitment process to different categories of employees for the project.
CM Singh said that the company would also be required to spent 1.5 percent of the final cost of the project towards Local Area Development on Local Area Development besides attractive relief and rehabilitation package to the oustees as also associating themselves with the welfare and social activities of the area. He said that the company shall also undertake the widening of the road besides constructing approach road to the site of the project at its own cost. He said that the environmental aspect was a matter to be addressed top priority and the new plant would be required to adopt modem pollution control devices in their plant so that there were no environmental hazards in the area in any of its activity.
Manoj Gaur, Executive Chairman of the Company,said the company had already invested in hydel power, education and cement projects in the state. He said that the company had already made its investment worth about Rs. 10,000 crores in the state and would be looking forward to more partnerships in other sectors as well.
