Around eight years ago, when I use to be there, a widow from Mahakaal, a place near to my native place, was sold by a very well established family of her in-laws, ironically her younger brother-in-law was involved in selling, much for irony the widow was from Sood community which is supposed to be very rich and influential community. My point is even in well to do families these things happen, you can imagine the condition of poverty stricken families!
